Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I am in love with arts and crafts. Since I came to Tanzania, I have been fascinated with all the beautiful colors of fabrics with lovely patterns and handmade baskets. A couple of weeks ago I was surfing on the net looking for some arts and crafts in Tanzania and I came across this amazing project called Womencraft. Over 300 hundred women and artisans design and weave these beautiful, high quality baskets that I have never seen here before. I immediately contacted the lovely marketing lady, Stephanie and got more information about how to support their cause. She recommended me throw a party selling theri products. On her way to Zanzibar for distribution she kindly left me a box of these beautiful baskets, coasters and trivets and yesterday I threw my first Womencraft Party!

At first I was a bit worried that noone would show up but I had over 10 women over coffee, tea and cake and sold a lot of products and raised over 400, 000 Tzs!!! Great success!

Makes me feel so good that I can help these women who are working very hard to create these beautiful baskets.

If you are interested in Womencraft products of throwing a party of your own please visit www.womencraft.org and contact their lovely representative Stephanie. If you are living in Dar es Salaam and want to buy some, I still have some at my house and would be very happy to show them to you.

Have a lovely weekend!
Elif
